Picture Keeper maintains a log file on your device which ensures that another Picture Keeper drive will start where the previous Picture Keeper drive stopped.
Simply follow these steps to continue where the previous backup left off:
1. Insert the new Picture Keeper and launch the app.
2. Follow the relevant step below:
- If using the mobile app, simply tap "Resume Backup".
- If using the computer app, tap "Start Backup". If a popup appears prompting you to resume your last backup, choose "Yes".
You're all set! Your backup will continue on your new Picture Keeper.
A new phone is a different case
The log file lives in the Picture Keeper app on your phone or tablet, not on the drive, so moving to a new phone does not work the same way as moving to a new drive.
If you set a new iPhone up from your old one — with Quick Start, or from an iCloud backup — the app’s record comes across with everything else, and your photos are recognized, so mostly only the new ones copy. Videos are not recognized in the same way, so expect those to copy again.
If you install the app fresh on the new phone instead, or you are moving to a new Android phone, the app starts with no record at all and the next backup copies your photos and videos again from the beginning.
