Picture Keeper Pro SSD does not connect directly to a Lightning iPhone.
It connects to USB-C devices only, so there is no port on that device for it to plug into. You can still back the device up — through your computer, rather than directly.
On a Lightning iPhone or iPad, the app switches to Manual Backup Mode automatically: start the backup in the app, then finish it on a computer.
