You can open the files on your Picture Keeper directly, without using the Picture Keeper app. The drive shows up on your computer like any other USB drive, and everything the app has saved is inside one folder on it called Backups.
Windows computer
- Plug your Picture Keeper into the computer.
- Open File Explorer — the folder icon on your taskbar.
- In the left-hand list, click PKBACKUP. The drive's contents appear on the right.
- Double-click the Backups folder.
Mac
- Plug your Picture Keeper into the computer.
- Open a Finder window — the smiling face icon in your Dock.
- In the left-hand sidebar, under Locations, click PKBACKUP.
- Double-click the Backups folder.
Inside the Backups folder
Inside Backups there is a folder for each device you have backed up — for example Mac, iPhone or iPad. Open the one you want. The folders inside it mirror where the files were kept on that device, so your photos are where you would expect to find them.
From here you can open a picture by double-clicking it, or copy any picture or folder back to your computer with ordinary copy and paste. Copying leaves the original on the drive.
The other items on the drive belong to the app. You do not need to open or change them.
