Seeing a message that says "This is taking longer than expected" after you connect your Picture Keeper to your Android device means the phone has seen something connected to the port, but that connection was never fully established.
This can happen for one of a couple reasons:
-
Poor physical connection — this can be caused by a bulky phone case, dirt or debris in your phone's charging port, damage to the drive or the phone, among other things. Take a look at our connection issues guide for help troubleshooting this properly.
-
Drive corruption — this usually happens as a result of improper disconnects, like unplugging the drive without ejecting, or during a backup. The fix for this is more straight forward: erase and reformat the drive. Reformatting is the last suggestion on the guide linked above, so if you go through that entire guide, you'll either find a fix along the way, or get to that step at the bottom. It's worth a try if nothing else has resolved this issue.
