If the Picture Keeper app cannot find your drive on an Android phone or tablet, an SD card in the device may be the cause. Taking the card out and setting the app up again is the first thing to try.
Your Picture Keeper and an SD card both present themselves to Android as removable storage, and that is what confuses the screen where you grant the app access to your drive. This applies only to Android phones and tablets that take a removable SD card, so if your device has no card slot, or there is no card in it, this will not be what is stopping the app from seeing your drive.
Remove the card, then set up the app again
- Power your phone or tablet off.
- Take the SD card out. If you are not sure where the card sits on your device, this video shows how one is removed.
- Power the device on again.
- Connect your Picture Keeper and go through the app setup once more.
Work through the setup as though the app were new to the device. This support guide has the full steps, and this short video covers the part where you grant the app access to your drive on Android 11 and above.
Putting the SD card back
This is a temporary step. Once the setup has completed, the SD card can go back into your phone or tablet.
Powering the device off before you take the card out, as in step 1, is the safe way to remove one.
