Files kept in Samsung's Secure Folder are not included in a Picture Keeper backup. This is how Secure Folder is built, and it is not a fault in the app or in your drive.
Secure Folder is a separate, locked area of your phone. Samsung deliberately keeps everything inside it hidden from every other app, so anything you have moved into Secure Folder is invisible to apps outside it, including the Picture Keeper app. Because the app cannot see those photos, videos, and files, it has no way to copy them, and they are left out of the backup.
Everything outside Secure Folder still backs up normally.
Secure Folder is a Samsung feature, so this applies only to Samsung phones and tablets.
Backing up items that are in Secure Folder
Secure Folder has its own option for taking items back out again, called Move out of Secure Folder. Once an item has been moved out, it sits in your phone's ordinary storage, where the Picture Keeper app can see it and back it up like anything else.
- Open Secure Folder on your phone and unlock it.
- Select the photos, videos, or files you want backed up.
- Choose Move out of Secure Folder.
- Connect your Picture Keeper to your phone and run the backup as you normally would.
After the backup finishes, you can open the PK Drive section of the app to confirm the files are there.
Putting the items back afterwards
The items can be moved back into Secure Folder as soon as the backup has finished, and they will be protected again exactly as they were before. This is a temporary step, not a permanent change to how you store them.
Moving the originals back does not affect what is already saved on your Picture Keeper. The copy on the drive stays where it is.
One thing worth knowing: a file copied to your Picture Keeper is stored on the drive as an ordinary file. Secure Folder's protection applies to the copy on your phone, not to the copy on the drive.
If you would rather not move anything
You do not have to. You can leave Secure Folder exactly as it is and let the backup cover the rest of your phone. Only the contents of Secure Folder are left out, and nothing else about the backup changes.
