Install and Open the App

This guide will show you how to download and open the Picture Keeper app on your Windows computer. For the vast majority of users Option 1 is all you will need; the others are for older versions of Windows:

OPTION 1: INSTALLING FROM THE MICROSOFT STORE

This version of the Picture Keeper app works with Windows 10 or higher. Follow the steps below to get started:

1. Click this link to open the Microsoft Store to the Picture Keeper app page.
2. Click Get:
   
    
3. Wait for the app to install:
   
    
4. Click Open:
   
    
5. If prompted, click Pin to Start to make the app easy to find from your Start Menu on next use:
   
    
6. Once you're in the app, use the App Setup guide to get started with your first backup.

OPTION 2: USING THE APP INSTALLED ON THE PICTURE KEEPER

This version of the Picture Keeper app works with Windows 7 or higher. If you're running Windows 8 or earlier, or you had trouble installing the Microsoft Store version, follow the steps below to get started:

1. Click the File Explorer icon in your taskbar to open a File Explorer window.
2. Click PKBACKUP on the left:
   
   
    
3. Double-click LaunchPictureKeeper to open the app:
   
   
    
4. Once you're in the app, use the App Setup guide to get started with your first backup.

OPTION 3: USING PICTURE KEEPER V4 FOR XP AND VISTA

This version of the Picture Keeper app works with Windows XP and Vista. Follow the steps below to get started:

1. Click the File Explorer icon in your taskbar to open a File Explorer window.
2. Click PKBACKUP on the left:
   
   
    
3. Double-click to open the "Picture Keeper" folder:
   
   
    
4. Scroll down and double-click PictureKeeperV4 to open the app:
   
   
    
5. Once you're in the app, use the App Setup guide to get started with your first backup.
