By default, iOS devices save picture files either HEIC or ProRaw format. If you haven't heard of those, don't worry! It's not necessarily common knowledge to most users. The benefit of these Apple file types is efficiency (in the case of HEIC) or quality (in the case of ProRaw). The down side is that they aren't always the most compatible with other devices. Windows computers specifically tend to not play well with these files. For more information, you can check out this article, which breaks down these different file types.
The good news is that Picture Keeper has a couple settings you can enable (or disable), which automatically convert these file types to the more universally compatible JPEG format. Leaving these settings enabled can lead to a more seamless experience across all of your devices. Disabling them will retain the file types as they originally were on your iPhone or iPad. Follow the steps below for help accessing these settings:
- Tap Settings
at the bottom right:
- Tap Advanced Options at the bottom:
- Turn the switch next to Convert HEIC to JPEG on or off, to your preference:
- Turn the switch next to Convert ProRaw to JPEG on or off, to your preference:
