This guide will show you how to use our Repair Tool to update and repair your Picture Keeper software using your Mac. Unless a full erase and reformat is needed, Repair Tool should only be necessary if you're running a version of macOS older than 10.13 (High Sierra), and only in one of these two circumstances:
- You're running macOS 10.11 (El Capitan) or 10.12 (Sierra), and the PictureKeeperForMac app won't open.
-- High Sierra and above should install the Mac App Store version to resolve this issue.
-- Repair Tool can otherwise help with this issue for users running older versions of macOS.
- You're running macOS 10.9 (Mavericks) or 10.10 (Yosemite) and need to install Version 4 of the Picture Keeper software.
-- Version 4 is an older version of the Picture Keeper software.
-- The most up-to-date versions no longer support Mavericks or Yosemite.
First, connect your Picture Keeper to your Mac, but do not open the Picture Keeper app. Then follow the steps below:
- Click this link to download the Repair Tool.
- Find the "RepairTool-Mac" file in your Downloads folder using Finder, and double click to open the Repair Tool
- Double click the RepairTool icon
-
If you see a prompt asking if you are "sure you want to open it," click Open
-
Click Find Drive
- If you don't see this prompt asking for "Full Disk Access," skip to step 9, otherwise click Open System Settings
-
Find "RepairTool" in the list, click the toggle to the right to allow full disk access, click Quit & Reopen, wait for Repair Tool to open again, and then click Find Drive once more
-
Click Start Repair
-
If you see this prompt asking for access to "files on a removable volume," click Allow or OK
- The Repair Tool will let you know when the repair process is complete. Be sure to open the 'PictureKeeperForMac' app on the drive to use your Picture Keeper moving forward. Following the steps outlined in this guide will not erase any of the files stored on your Picture Keeper, but this is also not a guarantee to regain access to files that may have been inaccessible prior to running the Repair Tool.
